Camp Sagemont & Swim Academy join in World's Largest Swim Lesson
The Swim Academy, headquartered at Camp Sagemont in Broward, FL, participated in the world's largest swim lesson to help break Guinness World Record. Camp Sagemont, a summer day camp, was a natural venue for this event.

    WESTON, FL, June 26, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Swim Academy headquartered at Camp Sagemont's Aquatic Center in Broward, FL, recently participated in a worldwide, record setting event. Joining venues around the world, The Swim Academy had over 65 Sagemont campers and staff members join in The World's Largest Swim Lesson. Participants will be included in the GuinnessWorldRecordTM

The World's Largest Swim Lesson was held simultaneously at venues across 5 continents. Officials are in the process of tallying the final numbers for entry in to the GuinnessWorldRecordTM Initial estimates are near 30,000 World's Largest Swim Lesson participants. The purpose of the lesson was to build awareness about water safety, the importance of learning to swim and to ultimately prevent drowning.

"Swimming Lessons Save Lives," was the theme for the event, now in its second year. Spokesman for the event is Rowdy Gaines, 3 time Olympic Holder and 11 Time World Record Holder. The headquarters for the event was at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.

Marcella Miciano, The Swim Academy Director, stated, "This gives us a golden opportunity to bring our message of water safety to an entirely new level. We teach and preach this every single day, so the chance to reach more people is very exciting. The Swim Academy and Camp Sagemont are proud to be a part of this amazing event."

Drowning is the second leading cause of unintended injury deaths of children 14 years and under. For every drowning there are 11 near drowning cases often resulting in severe brain damage.
