/24-7PressRelease/ - CAMPS BAY, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA, June 12, 2008 -- In an effort to keep Camps Bay a safe place to live and work, a local Neighborhood Watch has come into being - evolving into a truly inspiring success story.

Following a rise in the crime rate in the last quarter of 2007, the Camps Bay community took up the challenge, and got together to actively combat crime in one of the most beautiful coastal areas of Cape Town. Changing their attitude, the residents decided to stop complaining about the problem, be proactive and take a stand.

Under the leadership of Bernard Schafer, a resident of Camps Bay for the past 35 years, local residents have joined forces, patrolling the streets of Camps Bay throughout the night, doing all they can to assist in keeping the area as safe as possible for both residents and holiday makers.

Shafer says "Camps Bay is my home, I grew up here, and we are going to do everything we can to protect it, and stop the infiltration of crime"

With the crime rate having dropped dramatically since the introduction of the Neighborhood Watch just a few months ago, " this testifies to the fact that when residents stand together, anything can be achieved", says Joan Warren, a founding director of Holiday Rentals in Cape Town

Today the Camps Bay Neighborhood Watch draws fantastic support of local residents, Camps Bay armed response, as well as the South African Police Service. It has become a way of life, keeping each other safe, watching over your neighbors and ensuring Cape Town remains one of the most visited cities in the world.
Holiday Rentals in Cape Town, a leader in Cape Town holiday accommodation and a major role player in the Cape Town tourism industry in general, is very supportive of the Camps Bay network, as it simply adds to the appeal of coming on holiday to Cape Town.

Holiday Rentals in Cape Town specializes in rental of short term luxury furnished accommodation in villas and apartments for both the business and holiday traveler.
