KELOWNA, BC, CANADA, October 09, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- For the third year running, Tree Brewing has been recognized by the Canadian Brewing Awards (CBA), as a company that makes beer with character for people with character. The Kelowna-based Craft brewer was recently recognized by the CBA with a Gold Medal in the India Pale Ale Category for its newly released Hop Head Double IPA, and a Silver Medal for the ever-popular Hefeweizen limited release.

"Being recognized again by the Canadian Brewing Awards is a real compliment to our Brewmaster Stefan Buhl and his team," says Tod Melnyk, President and CEO, Tree Brewing Company. "We are very proud of the brews we create, and these awards continue to demonstrate that we're making beer with character."

Tree Brewing Company has participated in the Canadian Brewing Awards for the past three years, with seven awards to the company's credit to date. The brewery is focused on brewing small batches at a time, enabling the company to produce a varied beer line that appeals to every palate.

"This was the first year for our Hop Head Double IPA, and we really created it with Hop Head aficionados in mind," says Brewmaster Buhl. "Our limited edition releases are always intended to stand out from the pack, and it's great to know that the Canadian Brewing Awards appreciate what we're setting out to accomplish."

About the Canadian Brewing Awards
The Canadian Brewing Awards have emerged as the premiere competition for judging the quality of Canadian-brewed beer. The contest is the only truly national competition that invites breweries of all sizes from across the country to compete in a blind tasting to see who brews the best beer in 21 style categories.
A Canadian Brewing Awards medal is now a widely recognized symbol of brewing excellence in Canada. A panel of 8 Certified Beer Judges (BJCP certified), with no commercial links to the brewing or beer-retailing industry, consider 5 criteria: appearance, aroma, flavour, mouth-feel and overall impression. A maximum of 50 points can be attained. The competition also serves as an important vehicle for informing the Canadian beer-drinking public about the variety and quality of commercially available beers throughout the land. And every year the competition attracts new entries from small, startup breweries dedicated to carefully craft brewing one or two products.
