/24-7PressRelease/ - RALEIGH, NC, September 04, 2008 - The September General Meeting of the Institute of Real Estate Management Greater Raleigh-Durham Chapter 105 (IREM) will feature Cara Phillips, IIDA, LEED AP, Chief Operating Officer of Phillips Architecture, and will focus on green building concepts and what commercial real estate professionals can do to help educate their clients when talking about the green building movement and how it relates to their projects. The meeting will be held at noon on Wednesday, September 17th the Capital City Club, Progress Energy Building, 21st Floor, 410 S. Wilmington Street in Raleigh.
"The Green Building trend in the commercial Triangle market area is just starting to take off," says Phillips. "We are just beginning to see tenants request that their projects be more environmentally friendly. However, the majority of commercial real estate professionals are still not ready to make the initial money and time commitment to certify their projects through the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) rating system. The good news is that they are taking a first step, which is just as important."
Phillips Architecture specializes in Architecture and Commercial Design. Phillips has been with the firm for over eleven years and manages the human resource function, oversees the strategic planning process, and directs the day-to-day management of Phillips Architecture. She is a LEED-accredited professional and a member of Triangle CREW's Community Involvement Committee. She has been on the Board of Directors for IIDA for three years and currently serves as the organization's VP of Communications. Phillips also serves on the Advisory Board to UNC Greensboro's Interior Architecture program.
During her presentation, Phillips will also discuss the relative costs between choosing standard fixtures, finishes, etc. and those that are more environmentally friendly and that may lead to a LEED certified project. Guests, Associate members, and Student members are cordially invited to attend this event. A $40.00 fee, payable in advance, is required. Please make checks payable to IREM Chapter 105, 4824 Wyatt Brook Way, Raleigh, NC 27609.
