Career Step Vice President of Continuing Education Judson Smith to Speak at EMS Education Day May 20

Judson Smith will discuss pediatric airways at an EMS conference in upstate New York.

LEHI, UT, May 12, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Career Step, an online provider of career-focused education and corporate training, is pleased to announce that Vice President of Continuing Education Judson Smith will be presenting about pediatric airways at EMS Education Day May 20 in Farmington, N.Y. Mr. Smith is Career Step's Vice President of Continuing Education and the founder of Code3 CME, which provides nationally accredited EMT and paramedic refresher and recertification training, and is a paramedic with more than 20 years of experience in the field.

The day-long conference, hosted by Mercy Flight Central and Finger Lakes Ambulance, brings together emergency medical providers to discuss issues affecting first responders, including sepsis, pain management, and epilepsy. Attendees will receive six continuing education credits for members of the NREMT through Code3 CME, a part of Career Step's Continuing Education Division that provides nationally accredited EMT and paramedic refresher and recertification training.

Mr. Smith's presentation, titled "Little People, Big World: The Airway Dilemma," will look at the challenges to consider when assessing and treating children in critical care situations.
"Treating the critical pediatric patient requires awareness about several anatomical and physiological differences, not to mention addressing their emotional needs in a traumatic situation," Mr. Smith said. "I always enjoy helping fellow emergency medical providers hone their skills, and I'm looking forward to addressing such an important specialized need in our field with my peers in upstate New York."

Mr. Smith is no stranger to critical care scenarios. He has spent 20 years specializing in emergency medical services, including fire-based EMS and flight medicine. He serves as an officer in the United States Air Force Reserves in an aeromedical evacuation squadron and is a licensed critical care paramedic as well. He founded Code3 CME in 2014 to provide quality training with a level of educational support he felt was lacking in the industry and became Career Step's vice president of continuing education when Career Step acquired Code3 CME in January 2016.

Jason Haag, clinical educator at Finger Lakes Ambulance and organizer of the event, said he was glad to add Mr. Smith to the conference lineup.

"Continuing education is critical for emergency medical providers, and we are grateful to have an educator of Judson Smith's caliber participate in our EMS Education Day," Mr. Haag said. "Judson brings valuable practical experience and teaching expertise with him, and we're looking forward to what he can teach about helping such a vulnerable audience."

EMS Education Day will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack Conference Center in Farmington, N.Y. The $10 cost includes a buffet lunch and snacks. Register today at https://mercyflightcentral.z2systems.com/np/clients/mercyflightcentral/event.jsp?event=3&.
