/24-7PressRelease/ -- Carl Hogan Automotive in Columbus, Mississippi is helping Buick get the word out about the "Buick Achievers Scholarship Program". The program was created to help 1,100 college-bound students who are already excelling in school and who are making a difference in their communities at the same time.
The scholarship is funded by the GM Foundation, a non-profit organization that was founded in 1976 and has helped communities across the U.S. in Education, Health and Human Services, and many other inspiring programs. In education alone, the GM Foundation has donated more than $350 million.
This is the second year the "Buick Achievers" program has been in place. In 2011, 1,100 students from around the country became Buick Achievers and over $4.2 million in total scholarship funds were awarded. For 2012, they are awarding another 1,100 students with up to $25,000 per year for 100 students, renewable up to four years and one additional year for qualified five-year engineering program students. Also, $2,000 one-time awards will be given out to an additional 1,000 students.
Qualifying students must be U.S. citizens, be high school seniors or graduates or be a current undergraduate student, and must plan to major in an automotive related field like Engineering/Technology or even Business-related programs.
