    CARLSBAD, NM, October 22, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Carlsbad Department of Development congratulates Carlsbad Medical Center for their contributions and leadership in our community.

The Carlsbad Medical Center's groundbreaking ceremony, held October 15th, marked the beginning of their $15 million expansion and renovation project. Janet Carbary, Chief Executive Officer for Carlsbad Medical Center, announced the project will add more operating rooms, upgrades to Women's Services Unit, expansion of operating rooms, and remodeling of the hospital's front lobby. Earlier in 2009, new surgical equipment was purchased as part of the expansion project.

"We're very proud of the (Carlsbad) medical center," said Steve McCutcheon, Board President of the Carlsbad Department of Development. "They have been a tremendous asset to Carlsbad and Eddy County. Janet (Carbary) has a vision for the hospital. She has truly been an important contributor to the lifestyle and livelihood of our community."

Carlsbad Medical Center is a full-service, 127-bed community hospital, celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2007 with completion of a $12 million facility expansion project. The hospital and its associated services is one of the largest employers in Carlsbad and Eddy County.
