In 1965, after earning a Bachelor of Engineering from the City College of New York, Ms. La Grasse began her career as a structural engineer for James Ruderman Co. in New York City. She then became a civil engineer for the American Sugar Company before assuming the roles of civil engineer and director of contracts for Leonard S. Wegman, Inc. Ms. La Grasse was a councilwoman for the Stony Creek Town Board in New York for nine years, as well as a correspondent for the Adirondack Journal for a total of seven years. Her involvement in politics included serving as an expert witness for the House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, and the New York State Senate and Assembly Eminent Domain Hearings. She was a member of the New York State Senate Committee on Budget and Tax Reform in 2009, and she was a skilled presenter and speaker over the course of her career.
Ms. La Grasse put her writing talents to use as a co-author and editor of "An Enduring Heritage: A Study of Prominent Buildings in Stony Creek Center," published in 1989. She also serves as an editor for a number of other publications in her field, and has contributed many articles to professional journals. Ms. La Grasse is a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a recipient of the Patriot's Award from the Adirondack Park Local Government Review Board. In recognition of these and other achievements, she was chosen to be featured in the 61st through 69th editions of Who's Who in America, the 5th edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, the 37th edition of Who's Who in Finance and Business, the 24th and 27th editions of Who's Who in the World, and multiple editions of Who's Who in American Women.
