OLD BROOKVILLE, NY, September 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- When angels meet angels, only good can come. That's why sales of San Angelo Pinot Grigio, an award-winning wine produced by Castello Banfi, will be used to benefit Mercy Medical Angels (MMA), a national medical transportation charity. San Angelo means "Holy Angel" and is the first 100% Pinot Grigio made in Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy.

From August to October, Banfi will donate a portion of the proceeds from every bottle sold of San Angelo Pinot Grigio to MMA. These contributions will help provide long-distance medical transportation for adults and children in need of specialized care.

Based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, MMA is known as "America's Charitable Medical Transportation System." The group has earned Charity Navigator's top 4-Star rating, the Independent Charities of America Seal of Excellence, and a GreatNonprofit 2015 Top-Rated Nonprofit award. Mercy Medical traces its beginning to the mid-1970s when four pilots bought an airplane with a desire to use their resources and aviation skills for humanitarian and medical flights. Since then, the nonprofit has provided 154,362 patient trips, relying on contributions from individuals, businesses, foundations and the Combined Federal Campaign to fulfill its mission of making sure that no one in need will be left medically stranded.

MMA President and CEO Robb Alpaugh praises Banfi "for its philanthropic spirit that represents American business at its best. We're honored and grateful to have been chosen as the recipient of these funds, which will bring hope and healing to the worthy patients who call on Mercy Medical Angels for free travel to vital medical treatment."

Sandra Krut, Brand Director of Castello Banfi, said, "at Banfi we believe that giving is not just about making a donation, it is about making a difference. We love the unique service Mercy Medical Angels provides and are inspired by their selfless dedication and passion in helping people in need. We're thrilled and honored to leverage sales of San Angelo Pinot Grigio to support MMA's great work."
