/24-7PressRelease/ - HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA, February 26, 2007 - When one dream leads to the next the result is a life devoted to excellence. The local community has recognized this ability in Keariene Muizz, owner of Muizz Gallery and founder of Positive Resistance. However, Ms. Muizz was on her way years before she received the national honor of the President's Volunteer Service Award at the Wilshire Screening room in Beverly Hills July 2006. She will tell you the journey has been the result of her life long ability to conquer everyday before her as she describes her move to Paris at the age of twenty-three. It is in Paris where she conducted research at the National Library of France while attending La Sorbonne.
"I was a mathematician from the start. Everything that has emerged from within me is rooted in math or a natural desire to solve complex problems." Keariene smiles at a childhood memory. "When I was in sixth grade my teacher Mr. Tonan talked about Socrates, Copernicus and Newton and I remember I made this silent promise to myself to research the origins of calculus -to find out what was in the mind of Newton's discoveries. I had no idea that I would end up researching the entire dialogues of Plato and every published work written by Sigmund Freud."
In six months Keariene Muizz read and reread some of the most complex literature of our time, an undertaking which garnished recognition from the historic American Psychoanalytic Association in 2005, the same year she was nominated for the Ford Foundation's Leadership for a Changing World.
"Life is about dedication," Muizz says, "I wanted the foster youth of our nation to remain faithful to the hope that rests within them. Positive Resistance was founded to instill resilience in foster children because it is easier to help a child than to rehabilitate an adult."
When asked, Keariene will admit that she never intended to be a leader, but when she saw the numerous social problems that plagued foster children she was forced to shed her shyness and step up to the plate.
"Thankfully, this journey was bigger than my desire for a private and quiet life. My faith in these children prevented me from walking away from the challenge before me. Once I knew I could alleviate the fears of so many questioning foster children there was no question as to the direction I would take or the extent of the personal sacrifices I would make on their behalf."
Keariene Muizz was elected by the community as an example of perseverance and faith, two characteristics that the community desires to be reflected in the hearts of foster children nationwide.
"A broken home doesn't mean a broken life. It's a message the children in our foster community need to hear more often." This is the mantra of a destiny that is yet to be fulfilled.
