In 2008, the North American Pink Hair For Hope Program raised $480,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions has been able to donate a total of $876,000 since 2006 thanks to the Pink Hair For Hope program. SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions is hoping to raise over $500,000 this year and Elle Marie Hair Studio will be helping by offering these wonderful pink SO.CAP. USA hair extensions during October, 2009.
The pink hair extension graft signifies a unifying bond between women, who have undoubtedly known someone who has been touched by breast cancer in some way or another. According to the
American Cancer Society (ACS), breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States. It is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths in women, about 182,460 women in the United States will be found to have invasive breast cancer in 2009. About 40,480 women will die from the disease this year. Right now there are about two and a half million breast cancer survivors in the United States. The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is about 1 in 8. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 35.
