SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND, November 07, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Celebrity Chef Brian Turner presented East Lodge, leading Peak District hotel and restaurant, with the coveted Derbyshire Food & Drink Silver award for 'Restaurant of the Year 2009' at a gala ceremony recently. The annual awards recognise the pinnacle of food and drink establishments in the county, as well as those that actively support, utilise and promote local produce.
Iain Hardman, director of the award-winning family hotel and restaurant, commented: "It is a tremendous accolade for East Lodge to have won this award again. The quality of our food speaks for itself, and in addition we make every effort to only use locally grown and farmed ingredients; we feel that this approach not only supports local business, but also gives regional authenticity to the food which is appreciated both by locals and tourists."
East Lodge's Head Chef, Simon Bradley, said:" We have a great rapport with our local suppliers and they are equally as passionate and serious about food as we. We choose the very best beef and lamb from Highfield House Farm in Stonedge near Ashover, and our pork is from White Peak Farm in Tissington. We grow a wide selection of fresh seasonal vegetables in our own gardens and have our own smoke house to add unique variety to our fish dishes. The award is a testament to the fantastic combination of great local ingredients and the skill and dedication of the team of chefs at East Lodge." East Lodge was named "Small Hotel of the Year 2008/09" at the East Midlands Tourism awards, and then went on to become a silver Winner as "Hotel of the Year 2009/10" at the national finals - renowned as the tourism Oscars. In 2007/08 East Lodge was named "Derbyshire Restaurant of the Year" and also scooped the Conde Nast Johansens "Most excellent service" & "Readers choice" awards.
