BARCELONA, SPAIN, November 11, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Environmentally friendly holidaymakers visiting Barcelona next month will be in their element as the Drap-Art '09 International Recycling Art Festival of Catalonia gets underway.

Held at the Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona (CCCB), which is within easy reach of most Barcelona hotels, the event runs from December 17th to January 10th 2010 and features a packed programme of exhibitions and activities.

According to the festival organisers it "will be developed in eight modalities to show us the possibilities of creative recycling: group exhibitions of art and designer objects made from recyclable materials, interventions in public space, a space for thought and discussion, the traditional art and design market, participative workshops, performances, audiovisuals and environmental cinema".

The event will feature a host of national and international artists, as well as musicians, designers, lecturers and audiovisual specialists.

As well as attending Drap-Art '09, those visiting the CCCB will find plenty of other exhibitions taking place, including World Press Photo 2009 - a collection of pictures taken by photojournalists from around the globe, covering everything from war to daily life and nature.

Also taking place at the venue is the Cerda and the Barcelona of the Future - Reality Versus Plan exhibition, which focuses on the urbanisation of the city over the past 150 years.
