Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia Music Director Nominated for an Emmy Award

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia's Music Director Dirk Brosse has been nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Music Composition for a Mini-Series, Move or a Special (Original Dramatic Score).



    PHILADELPHIA, PA, July 24, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia's Music Director Dirk Brosse has been nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Music Composition for a Mini-Series, Movie or a Special (Original Dramatic Score) for his score of the HBO television mini-series, Parade's End (Part 5). This year's 65th Primetime Emmy Awards airs live on CBS on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 8PM, ET.

Parade's End is a five-part television mini-series made in collaboration by HBO, BBC and VRT. Based on the best-selling tetralogy of novels of the same name by Ford Madox Ford, it tells the story of an eradicative love triangle between an English aristocrat, his cruel socialite wife, and a young suffragette during the First World War. The series premiered on BBC Two on August 24, 2012 and on HBO on February 26, 2013, and received favorable reviews. The soundtrack to Parade's End, and the video to the mini-series is available on CD, DVD and Blu-Ray, on Amazon.com.

The Emmy Awards celebrate excellence in national primetime programming, awarding top honors at the annual creative arts and primetime awards ceremonies.

Aside from being the Music Director of The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Dirk Brosse is also the professor of conducting and composition at the University of the Arts/Royal Conservatory of Music in Ghent, Belgium. He has conducted major symphony orchestras around the world, including the Brussels Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic of London, l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, among others. As a composer, he has written more than 200 works, which have been performed all over the world and recorded in more than 40 countries.

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia is a founding resident company of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and performs from September through May in its home, the intimate Perelman Theater.
