Charles I. Abramson Celebrates Over 30 Years of Experience in Psychology Education

Dr. Abramson was named to the 1st edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering



He has worked at Oklahoma State University since the early 1990s and is currently Regents Professor of Psychology and holds the Boger Professorship of International Studies.

    STILLWATER, OK, November 20, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Charles I. Abramson, Regents Professor of Psychology at Oklahoma State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who's Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychology education.

For more than 30 years, Dr. Abramson has educated students, preparing them for their own respective careers in the field. He has worked at Oklahoma State University since the early 1990s and is currently Regents Professor of Psychology and holds the Boger Professorship of International Studies. In addition to psychology, he holds academic appointments in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology and the Department of Integrative Biology and is the author of over 200 articles and 17 books. In addition to these positions, he's previously co-directed the pet food testing center at the Robert M. Kerr Food & Agricultural Products Center for Oklahoma State University and now is co-founder of PetSci, a company that tests pet related products. His interest in pet behavior has led Dr. Abramson to serve as an expert witness in pet industry litigation. His interests in comparative psychology and biology have often intermingled throughout his career.

Interested in comparative psychology at an early age, Dr. Abramson first attended Boston University to receive an AB in psychology in 1978. Following this, he earned a Master of Arts in experimental psychology from the institution in 1983. In 1986, he continued at the university to receive a PhD in physiological psychology. He has earned a variety of accolades throughout his career, including recognition from the Oklahoma State Legislature for his teaching abilities. In 2009, he was elected the president of Sigma Xi at Oklahoma State University. His research was selected for the National Academy of Science exhibit on Charles H. Turner in 2015.

Dr. Abramson's work has appeared in some of the top journals in his field including the Journal of Comparative Psychology, Journal of Experimental Biology, and Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research. Recently, his work was singled out as one of the best examples of honey bee research appearing in PLoS-One. He was elected to the Colombian Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences in 2016. Dr. Abramson is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the Psychonomic Society, Sigma Xi and the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society. In 2017, Dr. Abramson was recognized with the Outstanding Contributions to International Relations from the Federal Institute of Paraiba, Brazil. Oklahoma State University awarded him the Lawrence L. Boger Endowed Professorship Award in 2014. That same year he was named a fellow of the Psychonomic Society. Looking toward the future, Dr. Abramson endeavors to continue teaching and enlightening others in comparative psychology and biology.
