/Cambridge Who's Who/ -- Charlie J. Woody, MT, CT, BBT, FMF, HMCUSN (Retired), former Director of Volunteers of Angleton Danbury Medical Center's Emergency Department, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in operations management and medical technology.
Until recently, Mr. Woody volunteered his services to Angleton Danbury Medical Center's Emergency Department. Prior to that, he worked in a laboratory for over 40 years and taught chemistry to technical students at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. He also served in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring 42 years ago with 13 medals for conduct. He holds in highest esteem the five medals he received that relate to his 20 years of perfect service.
Mr. Woody, who recently relocated to Abilene, fondly recalls the highlight of his career: "Five Marines, three Corpsman and I climbed Mt. Fuji. When we reached the15,000 foot summit, we met up with an American college professor and his family. The professor's daughter was having breathing problems due to altitude change so we rigged a litter and carried her down 2,000 feet to a cabin where she could breathe better."
Mr. Woody, a Certified Chemistry Technologist, received his three-year Associate Degree in Business Administration from Lamson Business College in Phoenix, AZ. He also completed coursework in Chemistry at the United States Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD in 1957 and attended a study course in atomic, biological and chemical warfare while serving in the Marines in Japan for 18 months in 1955-1956. Mr. Woody is a Lifetime Board Member of the Fleet Reserve Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He attends Church of Christ in Angleton, TX.
