/24-7PressRelease/ - RICKMANSWORTH, UK, June 06, 2006 - Available to download free of charge from Charlie-the-Copywriter.co.uk, At the Water's Edge tells the compelling story of two ordinary infantrymen, one British the other American, as they prepare for the Allied assault on Nazi occupied Western Europe. Thoroughly researched and carefully checked for historical accuracy by Military History Officer, Andrew Whitmarsh, Portsmouth Museums and Records Service, the play is an ideal tool for education, re-enactment/living history, theatre and broadcast training purposes. Copies of the manuscript are also available to read and download from the SimplyScripts.com website.

Code-named Overlord, the D-Day landings were spectacular in their sheer scope, vision, and execution. The plan called for over 5000 ships and 11000 aircraft to land and drop around 175000 men including equipment, rations and ammunition plus 50000 assorted vehicles onto a 70-mile stretch of heavily defended Normandy coastline. To assist in this mammoth enterprise the Allies constructed two huge harbours, each the size of Dover, and towed them across the English Channel, and lay an oil pipeline under the sea from Britain to the French coast.

Today, the Royal British Legion and its Poppy Appeal make an invaluable contribution to caring for and supporting veterans of the D-Day campaign and the wider ex-Services community. Visitors to Charlie-theCopywriter.co.uk can show their support for this vital work by making a donation via the link on the home page. Alternatively, visit the Royal British Legion website at http://www.britishlegion.org.uk.

The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading charity providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants. Just a 5.00 GBP donation will ensure that a housebound or hospitalised person receives a one hour friendship visit, for example.
