WEST BOYLESTON, MA, August 14, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Checkerboard Ltd. announced today that Inc. Magazine has ranked the company on its 2009 list of the 5000 fastest growing companies in America for the second year in a row.

"It's a special honor to be recognized not once but twice as an industry leader by Inc., particularly in these challenging economic times," said Checkerboard president/CEO Micah Chase. "We're especially pleased to be included on a list that highlights just a small percentage of the millions of companies in the U.S. today."

Over the past five years Checkerboard has increased sales by 75 percent and profits by 226 percent. A family owned and operated business, Checkerboard has grown at a rapid pace since its founding in 1989 and is now one of the nation's leading manufacturers of fine stationery products. In addition to this recognition, over the past several years the company has won six Louie Awards, considered the "Oscars" for the greeting card industry, for its outstanding design and creativity. In 2006 Checkerboard received the Better Business Bureau's most prestigious award, "The Torch Award" for business ethics.

Checkerboard continues to expand nationally and through its Web site is shipping its invitations all over the world. The overwhelming majority of all greeting cards sold in America are printed overseas, but Checkerboard prints 100 percent of its invitations and cards in the United States and, more specifically, in West Boylston, Massachusetts.

The 2009 Inc. Magazine 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2005 through 2008. To qualify, companies had to be U.S. based and privately held, independent - not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies.
