CHESTER, UK, September 25, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Saturday 26th September sees the final opportunity to enjoy a day at Chester Races this year, as the 2009 horse racing season comes to a close. With glorious sunshine forecast for the day, the race course is anticipating a great day's racing and a party atmosphere to celebrate the end of another successful season of horse racing fixtures.
Leading the celebrations will be the City of Chester band, with stars from Hollyoaks and Coronation Street, alongside local footballers and WAGS heading down to the Roodee to add some celebrity glamour to the event. To kick off the party in style, all County Badge holders will be able to take advantage of a Special Finale offer. Bottles of house champagne will be available for only GBP25 from the County Champagne Bar before 1pm.
Over 200 horses have been entered for Saturday's 7 race card. Although the final runners are not declared until Thursday afternoon, it is hoped that Bab Al Salam features amongst those declared for the feature race of the day, the sportingbet.com Handicap Stakes (3.50pm). This race has a prize fund of GBP45,000 and the Godolphin-trained horse could record his fifth straight victory, in a race that is normally won by an improving 3-year-old. If he does feature, it will be the horse's first experience of Chester's tight track.
In the Innospec Handicap (4.25pm), there are 10 horses entered who have recently won at Chester. Course form is always important at Chester and these horses will be marked on the racecard with 'CD' to show that they have won over the course distance (7 furlongs.)
Richard Thomas, Chief Executive of Chester Race Company Ltd commented on the autumn finale by saying:
'We're all looking forward to Saturday immensely, Chester Races is all about people having fun we never miss an excuse to have a party. We've had a strong year despite all the doom and gloom and the County Badge Champagne offer is our way of saying thank you to our customers.'
Gates open at 11.30 on Saturday with the first race at 2.15pm and final race of the season at 5.35pm.

Chester Race Company is a dynamic and rapidly expanding organisation. The company's vision is that it becomes synonymous in people's psyche as a first option in deciding what to do in their "leisure" time. The extensive "what's on" list is growing season on season, with racing as its core product offering. The Racecourse now also offers: polo, horse shows, concerts, fine dining, theatre box office, the circus etc. In the medium term, we continue to work towards guaranteeing that all events that take place at Chester & Bangor-on-Dee Racecourses are all organized to the same exacting standards and provide visitors to the event of their choice with a 1st class "experience".
The Chester Race Company Limited ["CRCL"] has been established since 1892. In 2002, CRCL acquired Bangor-on-Dee racecourse, and in 2003, the Express Holiday Inn Hotel at Chester Racecourse franchise.
In 2006, Chester Race Company assumed responsibility for all events that take place on the Roodee, and as a result, everything that takes place has been subjected to a rigorous review process to ensure each event is in line with the Chester Racecourse hallmark of excellence.
