Taking place from September 19 - 25, 2008 in venues across Chicago, the 10th Annual World Music Festival: Chicago 2008 showcases both traditional and contemporary tunes from an array of diverse cultures from various nations. This year's festival line-up features more than 70 events at a total of 28 venues. The city wide, multi-venue, one-week festival has attracted nearly 500,000 people from Chicago and beyond since its inception in 1999. Organized by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), the Festival has presented more than 500 artists and ensembles from more than 50 countries in its 10-year run, made possible with generous support from the National Geographic TRAVELER and Mexico Tourism; The Comer Science & Education Foundation;
The National Endowment for the Arts; The Chicago Office of Tourism; and United, the Official Airline of the World Music Festival. Additional support is provided by 91.5 WBEZ Chicago Public Radio.
