SPRINGFIELD, VA, September 06, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- From hamstring injuries, calf muscle tightness, foot pain, to lower back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain, Dr. Todd P. Sullivan of NOVA Chiropractic & Wellness Center will be providing Active Release Technique (ART) care to the triathletes at the Nation's Triathlon in Washington, DC.

Dr. Sullivan will be providing Active Release Technique for the triathletes at the Nation's Triathlon in Washington, DC on September 13, 2009. "Some common injuries that we will treat at the triathlon will be hamstring or calf muscle strains, muscle soreness, foot pain, lower back pain or shoulder pain from the swim" says Dr. Sullivan.

Active Release Technique is a state of the art patented soft tissue technique designed to fix the injuries that occur to the muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves. ART can also be used to increase the athletes performance by loosening up tight muscles and preparing the athletes body for the race, because a tight muscle is a weaker muscle. This technique is great at healing injuries that occur from repetitive strain such as training for a triathlon.

Dr. Sullivan has served the Springfield & Fairfax County community through NOVA Chiropractic & Wellness Center since 2006. Prior to that, he was one of two chiropractors selected to complete his residency training at the National Naval Medical in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Sullivan has served as the medical staff at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, HI and has also provided Active Release Technique care at the ITU World championships in Washington DC, Virginia Triathlon Setup Events, Cherry Blossom Ten Miler, SunTrust Marathon, and Marine Corps Marathon.

Founded in 2006, NOVA Chiropractic & Wellness Center services the communities of Springfield, Burke, Alexandria, Annandale and Fairfax, VA. They provide a multi-disciplinary approach combining chiropractic, acupuncture, massage therapy, rehabilitation and nutrition for a complete holistic approach. The owner and clinic director of NOVA Chiropractic & Wellness Center is Fairfax county resident Dr. Todd P. Sullivan. Dr. Sullivan is also an avid triathlete, and marathon runner.
