His research work has been used in everything from the detection of food borne disease to work with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's patients. Dr. Cho attributes his successes to the diligent publication of papers for the industry, and has accrued relationships with scientists abroad and on an international level.

Bracketed with undergraduate scholarships in 1994 and 1998, Dr. Cho served in the Korean Army from 1995 to 1997 to the rank of sergeant while completing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Kwangwoon University in the Korean capital of Seoul. Fresh from his studies, he joined a Master's degree research program with Dr. Se-Hwan Paek at Korea University to investigate site-directed antibody technology for building very small biological sensors.

As a doctoral research student with Dr. Paek, Dr. Cho worked on developing the technology to target pathogens for clinical use, food production, and for contingencies with hazardous biological weapons. Dr. Cho stayed on as a postdoctoral fellow with the laboratory to develop faster detection for food borne microorganisms and for monitoring blood glucose, becoming an expert in biosensors.

In 2011, Dr. Cho joined Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, to work with Dr. Joseph Irudayaraj on biosensors for everything from delivering antibodies to identifying breast cancer. He returned to Korea in 2014 and became an assistant professor with Eulji University.
