/24-7PressRelease/ -- Clarke's final sale of 2008 is holiday-rich with a wide range of items attractive for investment and collecting, celebration and entertaining, or seasonal gift-giving.
Its Larchmont location is packed with antique and traditional furniture table for dining or hosting a party for this season's holidays and beyond.
Antique highlights include an 18th Century Bonnet-top American Highboy and 19th C. Biedermeier pieces including tables and armchairs; an 18th Century paint-decorated corner cabinet; a 19th C. French Empire style bronze mounted bookcase; 18th C. Italian sidechairs and an19th C. marquetry Austrian game table. Traditional furniture includes dining pieces from Kittinger; Georgetown Galleries; Kindel; and others.
Midcentury Modern includes furniture from Johns Stuart and Widdicomb, Pace, RobsJohn- Gibbings, Pierre Paulin, Plycraft, Baker, Horon, Sciolari; pieces in the style of or possibly by Russell Wright, Samuel Marx, Milo Baughman; decorative arts such as a signed metal sculpture, possibly Italian, on matching pedestal; glass pieces by H St Lerche and Peter Bramhall, and Murano and Italian lighting.
Decorative arts include three carved blackamoors, an exceptional pink trunk from a Manhattan retail icon, a pink porcelain lidded box, Baccarat and Steuben pieces, a pair of Boehm mallards, Daum Nancy, Tiffany and Quezal glass among 150 lots.
Fine art includes a marine oil by Fernand Pinal, French Post-Impressionist, a vintage oil of Hamilton Bermuda by the American Denys Wortman; a pastel signed M Huse, possibly Marion; a rare signed ethnographical bronze of an Indochinese woman; a midcentury mixed media signed Infante; a bronze moose by Ludwig Vordemayer, and a 1938 watercolor signed J Duncan.
