HONG KONG, August 28, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- CLP has set a target of planting 100,000 virtual trees by participants across Asia-Pacific
Through CLP Green Park, for every virtual tree that is planted, HK$5 will be donated to green
projects being implemented by partner organizations in five Asia-Pacific markets including
Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, Australia, India and Thailand.

EURTackling the climate change problem is at the heart of CLPEUR s green initiatives. Green Park
is unique in the way it reaches out to a diverse demographic in Asia, using an online gaming
platform,EUR said Andrew Brandler, CEO of CLP Holdings.EURWe hope that thousands of people from these
markets will sign up for the game and support projects that contribute to the preservation of biodiversity.EUR

CLP Green Park will allow users to choose tree species appropriate for the relevant region.
For example, the Schima tree would be ideal for Hong KongEUR s environment as compared to
the Manna Gum tree, which is more suited for Australia. Users will also be able to create
personalized characters for themselves as they go about planting trees.
Users are encouraged to promote the game through face book and other on-line media platform.

Trees sustain biodiversity and the planting of native trees helps build up wildlife populations
and contributes to natural forest regeneration which is a critical factor in addressing the climate
change problem. CLPEUR s on-line game will try to engage public awareness about the ecosystem
and promote the importance of natural resources, and their preservation.

EURClimate change is a major challenge of our times and we need a comprehensive approach
to tackle it. CLP's online tree planting programme highlights the role that forestry can play
in addressing the threat of climate change and I hope more companies will join in leaving a
sustainable planet for future generations,EUR observed Special Global Advisor of Climate Change
and Sustainability, KPMG, Mr. Yvo de Boer.

Mr.Achim Steiner, Executive Director of UNEP, said, EURLosing forests undermines food, energy
and climate security. We are pleased to learn that CLP has pledged to plant a million trees
under the UN's Billion Tree Campaign. With collective efforts from all parts of society, the
Billion Tree Campaign is making an important contribution to the 2010 UN International Year
of Biodiversity, a year which requires both local and global action to stem the ongoing and
dangerous tide of species and habitat loss.EUR

Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General of TERI, said: EURI am pleased to learn that CLP has organized
the EURLove the Earth, Plant a TreeEUR campaign as part of the EUR5-Year Regional Tree Planting
ProgrammeEUR. Biodiversity is critical to the survival of all living speciesEUR"if our ecosystems are
further damaged, we will limit economic opportunities for future development and impose limits
on human welfare. Tree planting is one of the many actions that we can take to help protect and
restore our environment. I take this opportunity to wish CLP all success with this initiative.EUR

EURTree-planting in a region as ecologically diverse as the Asia Pacific cannot be a EURone-size fits
allEUR activity. By involving local NGOs and selecting the most appropriate tree species in each
country, CLP has shown how multinational can make best use of local expertise in rolling out
online education initiatives,EUR Ms Christine Loh, Chief Executive Officer of Civic Exchange said.

CLPEUR s green partners for this initiative in the five markets are The Conservancy Association
in Hong Kong, the Forestry Administration of Guangdong Province in Mainland China, the
Conservation Volunteers in Australia, the Mangrove Forest Development Station 6 (Petchburi) in
Thailand, and the Centre for Environmental Education in India.

The donations that the green partners receive will be used to fund green education programmes,
including real tree planting, by these organizations in their respective markets to further the
The programmes will form part of the CLPEUR s Five-Year Regional Tree Planting Programme
launched in April 2008 which is aimed at planting a million trees in their operational zone in the
