Coast Guard Auxiliary Association uses Internet searches to raise funds
/24-7PressRelease/ - BELLMORE, NY, March 17, 2006 - The Coast Guard Auxiliary Association, Inc. (CGAuxA - http://www.cgauxa.org) has instituted among it's membership and supporters an easy way to donate to this Not-For-Profit Association.
Every day, people use search engines on the Internet to find information. Yahoo and GoodSearch.Com have teamed up to provide Not-For-Profit's a way to get donations that don't cause the user a dime.
The method is simple. Go to http://www.Goodsearch.Com, select the Coast Guard Auxiliary Association (St. Louis, MO) as the Charity and Search for your information. Each time someone searches, the Association earns approximately a penny.
In a December 26, 2005 article, the New York Times wrote, "GoodSearch, which is based in Los Angeles and uses Yahoo's search technology... Each time someone searches, GoodSearch gives half of the advertising revenue that it earns from the search to the person's charity or school of choice."
Fears that GoodSearch or the charity being supported will collect personal information or track site habits can be laid to rest.
The Times article by Bob Tedeschi stated, "GoodSearch users need not worry about the site collecting potentially sensitive information about their charitable endeavors, because the company does not require users to register or otherwise identify themselves. Rather, the site's visitors specify a beneficiary before they search, and the site designates an anonymous donation for that search."
The Coast Guard Auxiliary Association is a 501(c)3 Not-For-Profit company whose function is to provide financial support for the operation of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. The Auxiliary, which is the uniformed, volunteer non-military component of the US Coast Guard currently has approximately 32,000 members who donate millions of hours each year in providing public education, free vessel safety checks, safety patrols, search and rescue missions as well as marine safety and environmental protection for our recreational boaters and the public at-large.
Gene Seibert, the national Commodore of the USCG Auxiliary, and the Chief Executive Officer of the CGAuxA said, "the proceeds from this money raising initiative will be used to support both our recreational boating safety programs."
