Cofit presents its exclusive patent AP, the series of screen changer which is a perfect synthesis between simple use and technological innovation.
This series of screen changer was born for plants where it is necessary to keep the extruders running, to get the maximum homogeneity and a very high level of filtration of the material.

    /24-7PressRelease/ - LONDON, UK, August 11, 2007 - The screen changer AP has two fundamental characteristics, which give a series of advantages to the extrusion plants where it is installed: the self-cleaning and the continuity of working.

The most important characteristic is the self-cleaning system of the screen changer. The clever solution planned by Cofit actually allows cleaning the filtering cartridges without removing them from the screen changer itself.

How does the cleaning work?
The melt material flows through two channels, but the cleaning of the screens is made only in one filtering unit per time. In this way the processed material can proceed flowing in the second channel, with the obvious advantage to guarantee an uninterrupted production.
When one of the two filters requires cleaning, the operator shuts one of the two inlet valves, so that the entire flow of material is channeled towards the second filter cartridge.
At the same time, an outlet valve is opened to divert part of the flow of material towards the dirty filter. The pressure exerted by this flow pushes all the impurities through the opened purge valve, until the filter cartridge is completely clean.


Why the screen changer is always operating?
The second fundamental characteristic of the AP screen changer is the process continuity even during the replacement of the filtering cartridges.
The replacement of the screens is also a very easy procedure, which does not interrupt the production process.
The two valves which control the flow to the filter cartridges are simply shut one after the other, until the screen replacement has taken place. The material is then allowed to flow as far as the filtering unit, where the entrapped air residue is eliminated. The flow valves are then moved to their normal operating position where the material again flows through both clean filter cartridges.
We would like to point out that the self-cleaning enormously extends the duration of the screens, in comparison to ordinary filters and it allows to replace the screens only when these are completely obstructed.

What are the applications of this screen changer?
Thanks to his characteristic of continuity of process, the AP series is perfect for working thermoplastic materials like PE/PP/ABS/PET/PS and flexible PVC. The screen changer AP allows a very high level of filtration and for such reason it is recommended for working not much polluted materials to which it guarantees a special purity and a high level of homogeneity.

The AP series is composed of several models in order to meet the different needs of the plants where it is installed. The models can actually fit extruders with screw diameter from 30 to 200 mm, they can work with temperatures up to 300°C and pressures up to 800 bar. The hourly output can reach the 1500 kg/h.


Continuous work; self-cleaning with minimum consumption of screens; all this in a compact structure with reduced overall dimensions which needs a very minimum maintenance and with a really competitive price.

In this way the AP series can be easily installed on preexisting lines and when the spaces are very limited.
