The Martindale-Hubbell AV rating is achieved by only 20% of lawyers, nationally. If you want assurance of a lawyer's competence, look for this rating.
What Else Should I Look For?
Preparing each case is a time-consuming endeavor. A well-organized firm will have several lawyers, paralegals, legal assistants, investigators and specialists from the fields they represent to ensure no piece of evidence is omitted.
You attorney should make time to meet with, and communicate with you personally. You may be asked to communicate occasionally with the professionals as they prepare your case, as well. But, you should have reasonably quick access to your attorney for questions that only a lawyer can answer.
Your attorney should have a history of success in obtaining settlements for clients. Ask about this during your initial consultation, and ask about the firm. If the firm you are considering has a website, read every page, and follow every link. Verify claims of awards, honors, and successes to the best of your ability.
