/24-7PressRelease/ -- The Rock band Collinz Room had already been slated to play at Monica Beresford-Redman's popular Brazilian-themed restaurant, Zabumba's. But the circumstances of their performance changed dramatically when news of Beresford-Redman's tragic death in Mexico came out. When John Smith and the restaurant-bar's management decided to hold a tribute night in her honor, they did not hesitate to reach out to Collinz Room. The band was asked if they would write a special song in honor of Beresford-Redman and without delay they did, putting it together in a matter of days. The song, "Her Eyes," was performed live for the first time at a memorial performance at Zabumba's and immediately it was clear the moving song had hit a nerve, not only with those who knew Beresford-Redman, but even those who did not, but who knew her story and felt a connection. As a result of the overwhelming reaction to the song, and a companion video put together by the group, Collinz Room has decided to release the single commercially through iTunes and their website and to donate a large portion of all proceeds to the family in honor of this special lady.
"We were shocked like everybody else when we heard about what happened to Monica," said Rick Amieva, the groups lead singer and guitarist. "So if Zabumba's didn't approach us about doing something in tribute to her, we would have approached them. We had to do something. We didn't have a lot of time to write and record a song, but this wasn't hard. Sometimes things just come out, so I think all of the guys were in a special zone when we got together on this one. And it just flowed."
Collinz Room is one of the most successful Rock bands on the L.A. music scene,
having been two time winners of The L.A. Music Awards, one award being "Best
Rock Song in a Major Motion Picture" for one of their singles featured role in the Paramount Pictures film "Saw IV." The four man band is made up of Amieva, "Jay Jay" McNeal, on bass guitar, Luis "Chocs" Campos, on drums, and Jonny Whitton, vocals and lead guitar. Their current album, "Silence The Insects," is the second by the group which has been together for only a few years though that wouldn't be apparent by how tight the band is, both personally and professionally. Unlike with some bands, Collinz Room is not dominated by one or two members who do most of the creative work. All of the members of Collinz Room play a key role in the creative process, each contributing to the lyrics, the music, the direction of the band. It is a true collaboration. Which is why it was so easy for them to come together and within a few days come up with such a wonderfully evocative song.
"Sometimes things just come together like they're supposed to," said Chocs, the drummer. "We always work as a unit, whether on stage or in the studio. That's true for every song on our album and it is definitely true for this single for Monica. All of us were touched by her story and her family's story so we each wanted to put something really special into this. And I think that comes through."
"Her Eyes" can be heard on Youtube, and on the band's site, http://www.collinzroom.net, and it will be available on iTunes for download within a few weeks. It is already available for download on the band's site. A large portion of the proceeds will be given to Beresford-Redman's family in honor of Monica. For Collinz Room it is the least they feel they can do for a woman who seemed to love music and life so much. A tribute song that does well seems to be the perfect way to pay her back and to help carry on her memory.
