COLUMBUS, OH, November 13, 2008
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Webbed Marketing, an agency focusing on helping clients gain online visibility via search and social networks, has announced that it has been selected to present at the Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA) Research Symposium in Las Vegas on November 12th. WOMMA is the official trade association for the word of mouth marketing industry. The Research Symposium, along with the Word of Mouth Marketing Summit, is the only conference focused on quantifying word of mouth marketing. Representatives from Webbed Marketing will be discussing the importance of measuring word of mouth metrics and how they relate to small and midsized businesses.
Webbed Marketing founder, Bill Balderaz, is excited about the event. "WOMMA is truly a unique organization in that no one else is aiming to standardize the practices and methodologies for word of mouth marketing," he said. "It is a huge honor that WOMMA has selected us to present at the Research Symposium. While most people have heard about word of mouth marketing in one form or another, it can mean a variety of different things depending on who you ask. This is why the initiative that WOMMA has taken is so important."
While word of mouth marketing has been around ever since products available to purchase, the advent of the internet has created a whole new arena for word of mouth. Although consumers ultimately drive the largest word of mouth campaigns organically (think Tickle Me Elmo), word of mouth campaigns, or episodes, as WOMMA defines them, can be created by internet marketing agencies. The issue that these online marketing agencies are running into is discovering how to track and measure the performance once the word of mouth episodes have been initiated.
Webbed Marketing's presentation will focus on solving this problem. "We have found that when working with our clients it is crucial to provide the metrics that can prove a word of mouth episode has been successful," Balderaz continued. "Businesses want to see hard data and figures, especially in the current economic climate."
The presentation at the WOMMA Research Symposium will also draw attention to the reality that word of mouth marketing is a perfect fit for small and midsized businesses. The lack of a massive corporate infrastructure and the level of involvement from the owners and presidents that is typically seen with SMB make them better candidates than larger brands.
"We have found that SMB are generally more receptive to the ideas behind a word of mouth episode and are more willing to sign on than larger brands," Balderaz noted. "They are typically more willing to take the risks which are necessary in order to produce a great piece of content which will have the potential to become a successful viral marketing tool."
Balderaz and other representatives from Webbed Marketing will be presenting their award winning research paper at the Word of Mouth Marketing Association's Research Symposium at the Rio All Suite and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Their presentation will be at 11:00 AM PST. Anyone who is interested in more information about the event or plan on attending the event can visit http://www.womma.org/.
