/24-7PressRelease/ - NORTH WALES, PA, September 04, 2008 - Montgomery Township, Harleysville National Bank, Montgomery Mall, Staples, and North Wales Water Authority have teamed up to sponsor a Community Shred Day. This event will take place on Saturday, September 6 from 9 a.m. - noon at the Montgomery Mall Parking Lot #42 (near Boscov's and North Wales Road).
"With identity theft growing, it is important for consumers to dispose of sensitive material properly and this shred day will help," said Stacy Crandell, Montgomery Township Public Information Coordinator.
The document shredding provider is Titan Mobile Shredding based in Doylestown, Pa. Materials that can be brought to the shredder include tax records, medical information, bills, and any confidential documents like unsolicited credit card applications. Please check with a registered accountant on how long you need to keep your tax information. Items that should NOT be brought to the shred event are large binders, newspapers, phone books, magazines or any non-paper item. All of the shredded materials will be recycled at a local recycling center.
The sponsors are proud to be apart of this shred event because of their key initiatives, going green and protecting consumers' information. "Besides the environmentally friendly aspect, the attendees will be able to rest assure that their information will be shredded securely by viewing the video monitors on each of the mobile shred trucks," said Crandell.
During the event participants will learn more about how to prevent becoming a victim of identity theft from the Montgomery Township Police Department. Participants are urged to also bring their laptops to the event as Staples will be providing free security checks for computers.
