Key features of Concept Version 8 include:
Search Engine Optimization Features within E-Catalog - to allow marketers and E-Catalog administrators to better position their products on the Web and achieve higher rankings in search engines.
Improved Distributor Pricing - allows distributors more flexibility in pricing products for their customers.
Extension of AJAX Architecture - by extending the use of this architecture, Concept now offers a faster and smoother user experience by updating the web browser without refreshing the entire web page.
Quick Entry - allows for the rapid creation of quotes and orders consisting of multiple line items.
Personal Customers - this new Concept entity allows users to add and maintain their own separate list of customers and prospects, distinct from the primary Customer Master database.
CAD Engine Farm - this feature dramatically improves the performance of the interface between Concept and CAD systems by supporting multiple CAD seats (licenses) running across multiple servers for increased throughput.
According to McDonnell, Configure One has increased the use of Web 2.0 design principles to provide a more dynamic, interactive user experience. "We have extended our use of AJAX [Asynchronous JavaScript and XML] throughout the software. The effect is enhanced application response times, improved performance for large data sets, and a more intuitive look and feel for end users and system administrators."
Leveraging more than eight years experience designing and implementing web-based configuration solutions, Configure One has released two new modules as part of Version 8.
Concept Real-Time 2D: This capability allows for the real time creation of 2-dimensional product drawings and graphics, including the ability to view, modify, zoom, and pan, the drawings, directly inside of Concept's Configuration Interface. Users can see the impact of configuration selections within the 2D drawings in real time. This new module is html-based and requires no browser add-on or plug-in.
Concept Multilingual: This new module allows end-users to access Concept in multiple languages. Concept administrators can easily translate both static and dynamic text labels on screens, reports, and documents enabling quicker deployment. Both single and double-byte character sets are supported.
"One of the challenges was that our customers can define their own screen layouts," said McDonnell. "The new multilingual capabilities not only make it easy for our customers to translate the software, but it removes the language barrier to entering new markets. Our customers can appoint a distributor in a new market immediately, without the traditional delays of translating the software."
