/24-7PressRelease/ -- Configure One, a leading provider of web-based product configurator and electronic catalog software, today announced that Visa Lighting—an Oldenburg Group Company, and the leader in decorative architectural lighting products—selected Configure One's Concept Enterprise Product Configurator and Concept E-Catalog after a comprehensive evaluation process.
Visa Lighting's management recognized that the existing business systems were a limiting factor in the company's future growth. A major software systems upgrade and changes in business process were required.
To address these needs Visa Lighting has selected Configure One's Concept Enterprise Product Configurator and Concept E-Catalog software solutions to replace its homegrown configuration system that had evolved over many years. "It started as a spreadsheet and developed into a database system," said Mark Hastings, engineering manager. "We don't want to be in the software development business, therefore it didn't make any sense to keep investing money and resources upgrading an in-house system."
Configure One's Concept Enterprise Product Configurator and Concept E-Catalog will be part of an overall solution that includes Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Data Management (PDM) software systems. Visa Lighting's project team evaluated many different combinations of software products to ensure they had the right mix to meet the company's needs.
According to Hastings, Visa Lighting was looking for a web-based and rules-based configurator. "We were impressed with Concept's flexibility and ease-of-use. We have a highly configurable product line. Some of our products are very simple, others are very complex, and therefore we needed a configurator solution that could handle every scenario. In addition, our goal is to allow our dealers to specify our products remotely, so a browser-based application was a key requirement."
Hastings expects that Configure One will increase throughput by automating a lot of the configuration and quotation processes, reducing the number of configuration errors, and the manual effort currently required to generate a quotation.
