Entering the field as a programmer for TIMS System Solutions Limited in Hong Kong, People's Republic of China, in 1998, Dr. Yuen was recruited as a Motorola engineering professional trainee with Motorola Semiconductors HK Limited only one year later. Working in the department of information technology as part of the financial group, she spent a year with the organization getting better acquainted in her field. Spending her remaining years in higher education, she was hired as a research assistant at City University of Hong Kong in 2003 in the department of computer engineering and information technology and, later, at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in the department of automation and computer-aided engineering.
By 2006, Dr. Yuen has accepted her first position at Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education as a teaching associate in the department of computing before moving into the role of lecturer in 2007 in the same department. Proud to be a part of what is known as the leading vocational and professional education provider in all of Hong Kong, Dr. Yuen looks forward to many more successful years in higher education.
Dr. Yuen spent many years pursuing her degrees, first receiving a Bachelor of Science with first class honors in Computer Studies, then receiving a Master of Philosophy in Information Technology, and finally completing a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science and Engineering, which she recently completed in 2016. Her Bachelor and Master degrees were completed at City University of Hong Kong and her Doctoral degree was completed at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is also a Cisco certified entry networking technician, network associate, and Cisco certified academy instructor.
In addition to receiving numerous accolades during her years of study, including Research Tuition Scholarship, Postgraduate Studentship, and several Providence Foundation Scholarships, Dr. Yuen also received several Seagate VST Awards, a Whole Person Development Prize, a Certificate of Merit for a Student Paper Contest, and a Best Paper Award in web intelligence and social computing, among others. A member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Dr. Yuen has been included in Who's Who in Asia, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
