BATON ROUGE, LA, July 15, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- SuperCoolSteals.com, a leading social coupon site, revealed numbers today showing that during April 2010, 35 million consumers visited coupon sites, up 5% from the same period last year. With 11% of U.S. households searching the Internet for coupons to save money, both store owners and consumer are capitalizing on the opportunity.

And the savings are real. According to numbers from Compete and reported through coupon site SuperCoolSteals.com, Consumers saved $5.98 million last month and an astonishing $42.43 million online since January 1, 2010. It is estimated that 52% of these savings relate to groceries.

With over 1.37 million coupons downloaded from coupon sites such as SuperCoolSteals.com during 2010, consumers are taking charge.

The numbers reveal another secret about the consumer climate. According to the data, 89% of U.S. consumers have set a financial goal for the year or have a specific savings strategy in place. U.S. families have an average goal of saving $14,000 this year.

"U.S. consumers have not changed their grocery spending but are using more coupons. The conclusion is 100% clear - consumers are getting more bang for the buck. This is a testament to our vision to help consumers!" says Joe McFerrin CEO of Super Cool Steals.

Online coupons affect bottom line for grocery chains favorably too. More than half of the consumers who used a coupon during their last online purchase said that if they had not received the discount, they would not have bought the item(s).

"Coupon users generated $31.1 million in sales with retailers in May 2010. That is 42% more than the $22 million in May 2009. It's imperative for retailers to stay on top of what their customers want, and these days it's all coupons and deals all the time" says Joe McFerrin.
