FORT WORTH, TX, October 18, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/
-- A dog costume contest at a graffiti arts festival?
"Why not?" asks Ron Sturgeon
, local real estate developer and the spearhead behind this unique event. "The chain of events makes perfect sense," Sturgeon continued. "We were opening this new business park, Box Office Warehouse Suites
, the first business park in the area, for small businesses
, made entirely from shipping containers
. We wanted it to be unique and memorable, so we held a contest for local street artists, invited them to take part and create some great art for the business park. At the same time, I wanted the proceeds from the festival to go to some organization who could do some good with them, and SPCA of Texas came to mind immediately. So, if we're going to invite SPCA of Texas to the shindig, then why not have a dog costume contest since the festival will be held on St. Patrick's Day?"
Why not indeed? When you hear it said that way, it makes perfect sense.
"We want everyone to bring their dogs to the festival in costume," Sturgeon added. "If you don't have a dog, SPCA will be there with their mobile adoption vehicle full of dogs looking for a new home. They will also have an information table where event attendees can learn more about SPCA of Texas
volunteer program, the foster program, and upcoming special events. And hey, while you are there enjoying the food, animals and art, you can tour our new shipping container business park."
The Art-On-A-Can Arts Festival will be a one-day event with live bands, a DJ between bands, free hot dogs served by the actors of one of the sponsors, Hangman's House of Horrors
, contests, drawings for prizes, a gallery walk featuring work of local artists, and local art and crafts vendors.
The Arts Festival
will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 17, 2018, and Sturgeon wants to make sure everyone knows dogs are welcomed at this event. Tickets are $5 per person, and kids under 12 are free. All proceeds go to SPCA of Texas.
