Hurricane season began June 1 and will run through November 30, with major storms occurring from midsummer through early November. Dry storage is also a smart option for an absentee boat owner, as there are instances when only a 12-hour warning is given and a quick response time is necessary. Bridges will not be open to boats once evacuation procedures are announced, giving boat owners few options to moor in an inland canal or a protected river.
