County Commissioner Priscilla D. Thomas, M.Ed., Recognized by Worldwide Branding for Excellence in Nonprofit Management

    SAVANNAH, GA, January 10, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Priscilla D. Thomas, County Commissioner, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nonprofit management.

For 30 years of her career, Dr. Thomas worked in the education industry, devoting 19 years to a role as principal for Haven Elementary School. Passionate about helping those in need, she became affiliated with various governmental, business, and community initiatives on behalf of youths. In 1992, Dr. Thomas assumed a position as county commissioner in Savanna, Georgia. Highly proficient in development of personal goals and leadership potentials, Dr. Thomas oversees District 8, and has put into place two organizations which involve the governmental process in developing youths. She played an integral role in establishing The Chatham County Youth Commission and the Summer Bonanza Partnership, which are both currently replicated throughout the United States. As executive director for each nonprofit organization, Dr. Thomas oversees the educational aspects of the group by organizing meetings, planning incentives, and attending national conferences. She holds a Master of Science in elementary education from Bradley University.

With 24 years of practiced expertise, Dr. Thomas has been recognized for her accomplishments and professional longevity. She was honored with the National County Courthouse award presented by the National Association of Council in Kansas City, for her efforts on behalf of youths. Dr. Thomas was also the recipient of the Siemens' County Courthouse award and inducted into Worldwide Branding in 2008. Since her inclusion in the prestigious organization, she was also selected as an Outstanding VIP member.

Dr. Thomas is the past-president of Iota Phi Lambda, and currently affiliated with the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), and the National Association of Counties (NACo). She is charitably involved with Fairlawn Baptist Church, National Association of the Blind, Young Men's Christian Association, Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum, Savannah Development and Renewal Authority, and Economic Opportunity Authority. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and baking.
