/24-7PressRelease/ - Southampton, UK, July 01, 2005 - Why not make the most of your annual holiday and experience a world famous yacht regatta in August 2005? Global Yacht Racing, a Southampton based yacht racing company offer training and racing on competitive yachts in Cowes Week 2005. Onshore accommodation for competitors and their family and friends can be arranged on request. All race and yacht details are efficiently organised so that you can take the opportunity to enjoy the exciting racing on the renowned tidal waters of the Solent and experience the full Cowes Week experience in afternoon/evenings.
Last year the Global Yacht Racing team entered in the competitive X332 fleet, racing hard during the day and partying hard in the evenings. Here is what Global Yacht Racing crew member Helen Warwick had to say about Cowes Week 2004. "If you want an exciting, fun packed, adrenaline fuelled week, with the addition of a great party every night, then Cowes Week is for you! I was pretty nervous about the week, not having sailed more than a dinghy before, but after a couple of training days with Tack and Claire (Global Yacht Racing trainers) I soon felt ready for anything (well nearly). Having gained our sealers we soon settled into our roles (mine being pit monkey and spinny chick!) and were soon pulling together as a team. The whole week was an unforgettable experience - I found a competitive streak that I didn't know existed, met some great people, got some amazing bruises and drank my own weight in beer. Not to mention a trip up the mast in the bosun's chair to recover a stray halyard! I can't recommend it more highly"
This year in August, you can race with Global Yacht Racing on Intuition, a reflex 38 race boat. Racing takes place on the Solent, a challenging stretch of water, with strong tides and the changeable British summer weather ensuring competitive racing. What follows in the next 8 days is some of the closest, most competitive and outright hectic racing seen anywhere. Cowes week is fantastic! You will be racing alongside some of the world's best and the intensely competitive close quarters sailing adds to the adrenaline rush.
Skandia Cowes Week is one of sailing's most sociable events with many fun onshore activities organised for friends and family who are supporting competitors, and for holidaymakers who simply don't want to race. Over the eight days, there is a fabulous festival atmosphere with plenty of entertainment ranging from street entertainers through to theatre and music.
Cowes is the yachting centre of England (some would argue the World!) and during the annual regatta pulls out all the stops to put on a marvellous display of hospitality with excellent facilities. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops and throughout the week there are additional food stalls, marquees and events organised. Usually the Red Arrows, the Royal Air Force Aerobatic team amaze spectators with their daredevil flying stunts and the week culminates in a breath-taking fireworks spectacular.
Cowes week racing is close and competitive, and you will get to grips with white sails and spinnakers, become adept at sail trim and learn the rules and tactics of yacht racing.
If you are interested in experiencing Cowes Week at its most exciting book now with Global Yacht Racing for 2005 as this popular event is already selling out fast. For more information contact: info@globalyachtracing.com or phone +442380458128
