Creative Writing with iMindMap - mind mapping for authors and writers
Many creative writing courses quite rightly focus on the mechanics and techniques of the actual process of writing itself.

SURREY, UK, October 16, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tom Evans, the Bookwright, has created an innovative creative writing course from a completely left field perspective. His course focuses on the mechanics of tapping into raw creativity.

Tom, an Internet guru turned author, has been studying how the human mind works and, specifically, where light bulb moments come from. He has distilled what he has learned into a two day workshop and online home study course for budding authors.

The central pillar of his course is the use of Mind Mapping which synchronises both brain hemispheres to take the writer into a mode called Whole Brain Thinking. It was therefore a natural progression for Tom to adopt the brain-friendly software, Buzan's iMindMap - developed by Tony Buzan, the brain behind Mind Mapping. Tom has been using Mind Mapping for many years for both business and creative projects. He says, "At last with iMindMap, there is a software tool that isn't restricted by the rectilinear framework of a computer screen. One of the big issues with using computer-based mind mapping is that it throws the left hemisphere back into dominance which tends to block the creative right half of the brain. iMindMap is the solution to this problem."
A client who recently took the online home study course said of it.

"It is understandable, unpretentious, easy to use, easy to follow, so supportive and encouraging as well as being clear as crystal. The Mind Maps and audio visualisations are hugely helpful in their own right for anything I want to do creatively." - Jackie Walker, The Divorce Coach

The course not only deals with Whole Brain Thinking but also introduces the concepts behind Whole Mind Thinking. Tom shows you how to use a meditative technique, based on Taoist principles, to take the mind map and embed it in your cellular neurology. "The upshot of this," says Tom, "is that the author starts to notice coincidences and serendipities - snippets of useful information - that help them in writing and publishing their book. When the mind map becomes part of your neurology, you become able to tap directly into the collective mind."

Tom uses Mind Mapping techniques still further to tackle the bane of all authors, the dreaded writer's block. The left logical brain hemisphere is great at saying things like "Don't be silly you don't have time to write your book and who would want to read it anyway?"

By using Mind Maps with specific spatial and temporal layouts, authors can literally see their blocks for what they are and replace them with higher, more productive motivations. For really stubborn blocks, Tom uses hypnotherapy, time line therapy and even past life regression.

A recent attendee of his workshop in Edinburgh said, "Tom is one of the most genuine, down to earth and practical inspirers I have ever met. His workshop is a real joy and I have come away with a structured plan and even better the most perfect title for my first novel." - June Harrison Director Feng Shui Scotland.

He has also a published author who has written an insightful book of three interlocking life stories in poetry called 100 Years of Ermintrude. He used his expertise in Internet technology to simultaneously publish the book in print, for iPods, SmartPhones and the Internet.
His next novel called Soulwave is being published in early 2009. To this day, he can't actually remember writing his stories or where they came from.
