CSUSM Announces New Accelerated MBA Program

Beginning in Summer 2014, California State University San Marcos will offer a flexible, accelerated MBA degree geared toward recent college graduates.

SAN MARCOS, CA, September 03, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The College of Business Administration (CoBA) at California State University San Marcos is helping young college graduates pursue advanced business education with the announcement of the Specialized Accelerated Master of Business Administration (SAMBA) program. This flexible, innovative MBA program stands out for its unique "stackable" design. Consisting of three phases--the Foundation, the Core and the Specialization--students receive certificates as they work their way through the program, which culminates in a specialized MBA degree.

"We designed this program to be accessible to both business majors and college graduates from other fields. While CSUSM is always attuned to the needs of students in our local communities, SAMBA is also an excellent way for international students to pursue an MBA" explains Dr. Sharon Lightner, dean of CoBA. "We are gearing this program toward students who have three years or less of work experience and are seeking to jumpstart their careers."

The entire specialized, accelerated MBA program can be completed in just 15 months of full-time study, and students with undergraduate business degrees may be eligible to finish the program in an even shorter timespan. After working through the Foundation phase, a multidisciplinary pre-MBA program, and the Core phase, consisting of advanced graduate courses, students will be able to choose a specialization: Business Intelligence or International Business. For the latter, students will travel with a faculty member to a foreign country to complete their final project.

The SAMBA program will take place at the CSUSM campus in San Marcos, located between San Diego and Los Angeles, and minutes from both the San Bernardino Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. The first program is scheduled to begin in Summer 2014.
