PRESTON, ENGLAND, November 13, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This is now the second year that the Park has achieved the top award, improving on their previous Silver award from 2007.

Set in 16 acres of Lancashire countryside, Cuerden Residential Park is home to 180 retired residents who have opted for a peaceful park home lifestyle - and the benefits of a low-cost, low maintenance and luxurious park home.

Over the past 40 years, Campbells Park Homes has continually enhanced the natural surroundings by landscaping and planting trees around the park, creating a natural haven for birds and other wildlife.

The peaceful surroundings created have made Cuerden the first choice for forward thinking couples and single people aged over 55 who want to downsize their home without compromising quality or lifestyle. The community spirit around the park is becoming well-known with various clubs and interest groups, as well as local charity fundraising efforts amongst many residents.

Michael Campbell and the residents' efforts have now won the Park a David Bellamy Conservation Award, described by Professor Bellamy as the 'Green Olympics' for residential parks.

David Bellamy said he was "absolutely amazed" when he discovered just how much was being done by residential parks to protect and enhance the environment.
"Many parks like this have created wildlife wonderlands, and I think it's time they were given deserved recognition for their big commitment," said Professor Bellamy.
Cuerden's award was made following a detailed audit of the park's environmental policies, supported by comments made by residents.

Michael's future plans for Cuerden Residential Park are based around continuing to develop the Park for the pleasure of residents and their guests to enjoy their countryside surroundings first-hand and help maintain an active lifestyle, as well as keeping a keen eye on all wildlife and environmental aspects of the Park.

The park is a member of the British Holiday & Home Parks Association, the Park Industry's official body, which is assisting Professor Bellamy with the conservation awards project.
