MIAMI, FL, November 06, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Monday, October 31, Dade Medical College completed its second annual "Go Pink" campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an effort to increase awareness and preventative care for the disease. The campaign raised more than $60,000 in donations for women in need and the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" campaign.

"We are extremely happy with the results of this year's campaign," states Dade Medical College President and CEO Ernesto Perez. "Helping to create an awareness of the devastating effects breast cancer has on women can only help in the prevention of it," he adds. "I am proud of the efforts our staff and students put forth and look forward to expanding the reach of our initiatives in 2012."

A well-attended, signature pink healthcare mixer event was held October 27 at the Yard House in Coral Gables, where Dade Medical College hosted many local hospital, clinic and healthcare officials and employees. Also present were Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, Coral Gables Mayor Jim Cason, State Senator and Dade Medical College Senior Vice President of Governmental and Community Relations Rene Garcia, State Representatives Eddy Gonzalez, Luis Garcia and Carlos Trujillo, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Xavier Suarez, Hialeah City Councilwoman Katherine Cue and Homestead City Councilman Elvis Maldonado.

Mayor Regalado complimented Dade Medical College for revolutionizing outcome-based healthcare education and remarked that he was "proud that the college is headquartered in the City of Miami."
