Browne, Associate Professor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and he continues to serve as the Honorary Consul for the United Republic of Tanzania in both Chicago and St. Louis, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of higher education.

With more than 28 years of professional experience in education, Dr. Browne specializes in teaching African culture. He is the former Chairman of the SIUE Department of Anthropology. His responsibilities as associate professor include supervising and grading students, participating in committee meetings, and assisting administrators. He became involved in his profession because of his father, whose travels inspired him to study different cultures. He attributes his success to his persistence and hard work, and to the support he receives from his wife.

Dr. Browne received his Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Illinois in 1983. At present, he sits on the board of directors of the American Committees on Foreign Relations and is the vice president of the Midwest Association of Latin American Studies. He is the former president and former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Council on Foreign Relations, as well as former President of the Mid-West Alliance for African Studies. He is a member of the National Association of African American Studies, the Society for Urban Anthropology of the American Anthropological Association and the Council on Foreign Relations, and was the chairman of the Department of Anthropology. He gives generously to Catholic Relief Services, the U.S. Catholic Mission Association and Habitat for Humanity. He aspires to become a diplomat and travel to China in the future.
