Daniel L. Ben-Asher Celebrated by Marquis Who's Who for More Than 30 Years of Contributions to His Field

Mr. Ben-Asher had the honor of being named to numerous editions of Who's Who including Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in America



He worked for the nonpartisan New Jersey Office of Legislative Services (OLS) for more than three decades.

    LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ, January 10, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Daniel L. Ben-Asher has been included in Marquis Who's Who in America for 2016. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Following his retirement from the nonpartisan New Jersey Office of Legislative Services (OLS) in 2003 after more than three decades of public service on the professional staff of the New Jersey State Legislature, Mr. Ben-Asher worked as a freelance photo journalist for the Times of Trenton.

Before entering the field, he graduated from Livingston (NJ) High School where he was Co-Editor-in-Chief of the school's newspaper, earned a Bachelor of Arts at Rutgers College in New Brunswick and a Master of Arts from the University of Minnesota. Upon graduating, he began with Tanatex Chemical Co., a division of Sybron Corp., where he worked as its plant personnel administrator for a year. He then began his career with the OLS where he served as a research assistant, research associate, senior research associate and senior research analyst. In those roles, he conducted research, drafted legislation and advised legislators in the Senate and Assembly on a variety of policy issues, many of which continue to benefit innumerable residents of the State.

On behalf of the OLS, he also served as the nonpartisan staff member to the New Jersey Assembly Labor Committee, the Assembly Commerce and Industry Committee, the Assembly Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy Committee, the Assembly Housing Committee, the New Jersey Tobacco Age-of-Sale Enforcement Task Force and the Public Employer-Employee Relations Study Commission. His last and longest assignment was with the agency's Law and Public Safety Section where he wrote legislation ranging from New Jersey's first seat belt law to its Lemon Law and the Graduated Driver License Law which was cited by AAA as a national model for minimizing crashes and injuries involving young people.

In addition to these positions, Mr. Ben-Asher was a member of the Politics and Government Judges Panel for the Best in America Special Edition of U.S. News and World Report. He has won a number of awards and honors throughout his career including the Loyal Son Award from Rutgers for Extraordinary Service to Alma Mater which included his role as founder and Chairman of the Class of 1968 Mason Gross (Presidential) Memorial that was built in the early 90's. He also was awarded the Podmore-Dwyer Historic Award from Lawrence Township primarily for his role as the Editor and Photographer of Lawrenceville's first historic landmarks guide, the latest edition of which was published in 2009 and catalogued by the Library of Congress.
