Admitted to the New York State Bar Association in 1950, Daniel Scheyer is a highly respected attorney who has been making a name for himself for more than 65 years. Currently representing his own private practice in Port Washington, NY, the Brooklyn-born native is a wills and trusts estate lawyer who has spent the major part of his career involved in very complicated estate tax audits and estate litigation. He is also experienced in contested Internal Revenue proceedings, will contests, and contested accountings, and has often been retained as counsel by other attorneys of record.

Throughout his career, Mr. Scheyer has lectured for various organizations such as the New York State Bar Association and the Practicing Law Institute. He has authored numerous articles on estate planning, and is a co-author of treaties on federal taxation. He has served on various committees as well, including the committee of trusts and estates and surrogates' courts, the committee on estate and gift taxation, and the committee on military justice for the New York City Bar Association. Furthermore, he has been a member of the committee on estate and trust litigation and controversy and the committee on technology economics of the American Bar Association and the trusts and estates section of the New York State Bar Association. Prior to forming his private practice in 2005, Mr. Scheyer spent nine years as an associate for Carb, Luria, Glassner, Cook & Kufeld. Promoted to partner in 1966, he remained in position until 1999 when he moved into the role of counsel for another six years.

Mr. Scheyer served 21 years in the New York Army National Guard retiring as a lieutenant colonel with the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a trustee of the Village of Sands Point for 20 years in New York, where he also served many years as chairman of its board of zoning appeals. He currently serves as their associate justice since 2014.

An elected fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and longtime member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club, Mr. Scheyer received his undergraduate degree at New York University in 1947, followed by a JD at Columbia University in 1950.
