DENVER, CO, April 01, 2010
/24-7PressRelease/ -- In response to suggestions made by current members with diagnoses ranging from schizophrenia to depression, the site was completely re-made in an attempt to meet member requests. In addition to chatting and sending internal messages to others with mental illness, members are now able to blog, make forum contributions, make friend requests, create photo albums, and have live private discussions through instant messaging.
The World Health Organization has reported that many people who experience mental illness "are often subjected to social isolation, poor quality of life, and increased mortality." Social Workers Liz Barrett and Mike Apgar, Co-Creators of TrueAcceptance.com, don't believe this has to be the case. "We think we can make a positive difference in people's lives by providing social opportunities that might not otherwise be available and where discrimination won't be an issue", states Ms. Barrett.
About TrueAcceptance.com - Founded in 2008, TrueAcceptance.com is an award winning (2009 Lilly Reintegration Award) dating and friendship site for adults with mental illness. Members from the site have diagnoses ranging from schizophrenia to depression and live in all 50 states, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
