Mr. Richards has been passionate about law since he entered the legal field in the early 1970s. Since 2013, he has served as senior counsel at Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he focuses primarily in real estate law. Mr. Richards has practiced exclusively in New York City since the start of his career. He previously held the role of partner at the firms of McCarter & English, LLP, Sidley Austin LLP, and Coudert Brothers LLP. Mr. Richards embarked upon his profession as an associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.

In 1967, Mr. Richards graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts. He went on to earn a JD from Yale Law School in 1972. An esteemed alumnus, Mr. Richards has written the soon-to-be-published book, titled "Bonding in Secret: Yale's Senior Societies in the American Ways of Education, Ambition, Democracy, and Caste." His past works include "Rudyard Kipling: The Books I Leave Behind" and "Rudyard Kipling: A Bibliography." He also co-authored "The Commercial Office Lease Handbook." Mr. Richards has contributed articles to numerous professional journals over the years as well. In addition to his studies at Yale, he received a Bachelor of Arts in modern history and a Master of Arts from the University of Cambridge in England.

An active member of the legal community, Mr. Richards is a former chair of the Real Property Section of the American Bar Association and the Anglo American Real Property Institute. His further professional affiliations include the Century Association, the Kipling Society, and the President of Yale Library Associates. Mr. Richards has been featured in the 32nd, 33rd and 34th editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, the first edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, and numerous editions of Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World.
