/24-7PressRelease/ - WASHINGTON, DC, November 02, 2007 - Zomba Gospel/Quiet Water Entertainment is proud to announce the 2008 Stellar Award nominations for their artist DeWayne Woods. The debut artist's project received five nominations: Song of the Year, for "Let Go", written by P.J. Morton, New Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Urban Inspirational Single/Performance of the Year and Recorded Music Package of the Year (by Sean M. Kinney & Ronald Cadiz).
The Stellar Award nominations were announced on October 23, 2007 from a press conference from Nashville, Tennessee. The Stellar Awards will be held at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee on January 12, 2008.
Woods is thrilled about the honor. "I am overwhelmed and grateful that my peers and mentors in the gospel music industry, considered me (during the Stellar Awards voting process)," says DeWayne. "I am cognizant that it is rare for a new artist to make an immediate impact or gain accolades, in any genre, so I am very appreciative."
Last year, Woods released his debut CD, Introducing DeWayne Woods & When Singers Meet, to critical acclaim. The song's lead single, "Let Go", has become an anthem of surrender and the track has peaked at the #4 spot on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs Chart. The CD has reached #5 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums Chart. Riding the wave of the project's success, the artist is currently on his first 25-city tour making stops in Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Charlotte and Richmond. The tour started on October 5th and is closing out in Columbus, Ohio on November 18th.
