Delores DeSio Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Education

    VISTA, CA, January 16, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Delores DeSio has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Now formally retired from her career as an educator, Ms. DeSio has accumulated more than 60 years of professional experience. For nearly three decades, she was a teacher for Inglewood Schools, Palo Alto Unified Schools, Cupertino Schools and St. John's School. She was also aligned with Redondo Beach Schools, as well as Clawson City School, for which she served as an art educator. Prior to her retirement, Ms. DeSio acted as an art teacher for St. Patrick's School, and was the owner, writer and illustrator for Primo Publications. Now, she affiliates with Interfaith Shelter Network Homeless, an organization to which she has contributed time since 1992.

An alumna of Wayne State University, Ms. DeSio holds a Bachelor of Science in fine arts and art education. Over the years, she has earned her place as a celebrated author. In fact, much of her work is available for purchase via Amazon.com. In 1999, she penned "Rescue of the Gem Children," and has since written "Distinctly Duck," "Up a Tree with Mary McPhee," "Annie's Journey Through the Golden Door," "The Legend of Ruby O'Grady: Grandma was a Hippie," and "Aunt Nettie's Backyard." All of these works were composed after the turn of the century. Ms. DeSio has also had the honor of assisting her husband, Anthony William DeSio, with his venture, Mailboxes Etc., which was purchased by UPS and the name changed to The UPS Store.

Throughout her career, Ms. DeSio has been recognized many times for her work. In 1995, she won the Christian Unity Award from the Ecumenical Council of San Diego. Additionally, she has been featured in 11 volumes of Who's Who in America, the 27th through 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World, and four editions of Who's Who of American Women.
