ALEXANDRIA, VA, June 5, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Denise S. Pouget, Assistant Fire Chief for the Department of the City of Alexandria VA, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of public safety.

With nearly 30 years of experience in her field, Ms. Pouget is an expert in emergency medical services instruction, fire fighting and fire science management. As an assistant fire chief, she is responsible for overseeing a total of 143 fire emergency services personnel. The Alexandria Fire Department has a work force of 331 people. Ms. Pouget directly reports to the Fire Chief on matters pertaining to community engagement, prevention, health and safety, accountability, professionalism and readiness and infrastructure. Ms. Pouget is also associated with various committees in Northern Virginia, including a recent appointment to the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health. She attributes her success to hard work, being focused on goals and serving as a role m model to other women.

Ms. Pouget is pursing her Master of Arts at the American Public University System and received her Bachelor of Arts in Fire Science Management and Emergency Disaster Management from the American Public University in 2008. Ms. Pouget holds pro board certifications in fire fighting, hazardous materials technician, fire service instruction and as a safety officer. She has maintained her national registry paramedic status since1985. Ms. Pouget has been an instructor for the Maryland Instructor Certification Board since 1984. She is a member of the Fire Department Safety Officer Association and the International Association of Fire Chiefs, who honored her in 2007 with the Safety Officer the Year Award.
